Pregnancy loss or stillbirth can shatter your self-confidence in ways you never imagined. As someone who has experienced this heartbreak firsthand, I understand the overwhelming waves of disbelief, grief, and self-doubt that follow. Today, I want to share with you five steps that helped me, and many of my clients, rebuild confidence after loss.

The Impact of Loss on Self-Confidence: In the aftermath of loss, you may feel betrayed by your own body, question your faith, and struggle to envision a future. It's as if you're trapped in a carnival funhouse where every turn presents a new, frightening challenge. For those in the early stages of grief, this analogy isn't dramatic—it's reality.

5 Steps to Rebuilding Confidence:

  1. Take Care of Yourself: Start with the basics: shower, brush your teeth, stay hydrated, and eat healthily. Buy new clothes that make you feel good. These simple acts of self-care can help you feel more "human" and like yourself again.

  2. Practice Gratitude: Even in your darkest moments, try to find things to be grateful for. It could be supportive family members, your home, or your community. Write down three things you're grateful for each day.

  3. Eliminate Negativity: Challenge negative thoughts when they arise. Replace "I'll never be happy again" with positive affirmations. Remember, surviving this loss is a testament to your strength.

  4. Avoid Comparisons: Your journey is unique. Don't measure your progress against others'. Focus on your own small wins and celebrate them.

  5. Clean Your Space: Taking control of your environment can help you feel more in control of your life. A tidy space can contribute to a sense of order and calm.

The Most Important Step: Don't Give Up It's tempting to settle into the "it is what it is" mindset, but I promise you can feel confident again—in a new way. The strength you've gained from surviving this experience is something many people work their entire lives to achieve.

Rebuilding confidence after pregnancy loss is a process that requires patience and self-compassion. By implementing these steps and acknowledging your strength, you can honor your baby's memory and live a life full of possibility again.

Remember, you owe it to yourself and your baby to look for and embrace the gifts their life brought you and live your own life to the fullest. After all, its what they would want for you.
